MAHŌ
Objects that elevate the everyday through ritual, atmosphere and design.
Born in Melbourne, MAHŌ is a design studio creating objects that bring colour, form and sensory experience into everyday life. The collection spans perfumed incense, contemporary incense burners and handcrafted sculptural glassware – pieces designed to be used, lived with and enjoyed.

MAHŌ approaches familiar rituals through a design-led lens, balancing function with expressive form. Japanese and Scandinavian minimalism sit alongside a distinctly Australian openness to colour, cultural influence and experimentation. Designed in the MAHŌ Melbourne studio, the collection is represented by design-led retailers and cultural destinations internationally, including MoMA Design Store New York, Kunsthaus Zürich and Bauhaus-Archiv Berlin.

MAHŌ glassware is handcrafted from high-borosilicate glass by skilled artisan glassblowers. Colour is created using mineral tints fused into the glass rather than surface paints or coatings. The result is functional glassware with a sculptural presence and distinctive colour combinations. The incense collection combines fragrance, ritual and object design. MAHŌ’s perfumed incense is handcrafted using aromatic woods, resins, elm powder and fine fragrance blends. Its incense burners are conceived as objects in their own right, using materials such as brass, crystal and aluminium.

Joshua Tong is the founder and creative director of MAHŌ. His approach is grounded in the belief that useful objects do not need to disappear into the background. Through proportion, material and unexpected colour, MAHŌ turns familiar domestic objects into pieces with personality and presence.
