During FUTURE LANDSCAPES, the third appointment of BORDERS festival, It’s LIQUID Group will present the project of MASKE+SUHREN ARCHITEKTEN UND DESIGNER, architects based in Berlin, focused on planning, conservation, exhibition conceptions and interior design in collaboration with BISAZZA, one of the top luxury brands in the design sector and the industry’s leading producer of glass mosaic for interior and exterior decoration. The first two events of BORDERS festival, BODIES+CITIES SKIN and FRAGMENTED IDENTITIES, saw the presence of the architects with two linked projects. For BODIES+CITIES SKIN exhibition they presented the video installation “Layers of Berlin / Berlin under the skin” with the aim to strip back this concrete veil and reveal the heart and soul of a city in permanent dynamic transformation, a city whose present is a fluid and continuous dialogue between past and future.

During FRAGMENTED IDENTITIES how, the architects developed  the second stage of the subject that constituted their first intervention in Borders, with the project “Berlin revives for ever”.  This work has maked a conceptual shift, from an emotional-experiential view to a more assortative and structural approach. For FUTURE LANDCAPES event, MASKE+SUHREN ARCHITEKTEN in collaboration with BISAZZA, will dedicate their project to the water, as their main subject, considering the importance of it as an indispensable element for the development of life, our cities and the future of humanity as a whole. They put this element in value by generating a radical “inverted perspective” of Berlin, seen through its water reflections taken from the multiple rivers and channels that cross the city (Spree, Landwehrkanal, etc).

According to the description of the architects’ project: “This strategy is presented as a sequenced collage of photos of buildings and their respective reflections, that covers the internal walls of our assigned space, based in a regular grid modulation. The images will be printed in photo matt paper and hanged as vertical stripes from a levelled profile fixed to the walls, and will include some texts to reinforce the conceptual aspects involved. In order to generate a complete and surrounding spatial experience, the floor will be covered with fine recycled granulated glass, provided by BISAZZA. The combination of the different printed water colours and the colours of the granulated glass will generate an interesting “immersive“ effect, oriented to the enhancement of the spatial experience in visual and haptic terms”.
