Monoi jewelry brand is founded in Novi Sad, Serbia by siblings Maja & Marko Bacanin in 2018, with the idea of jewelry that would be high quality and timeless in design. Education and experience in the field of architecture and design spontaneously contributed to the development of love for simple, clean forms, which characterizes Monoi jewelry. On the other hand, many years of experience through the family manufacture of precious metal products, which has existed for 25 years, is also a significant condition.

Given that all in the family have a background in creative disciplines including architecture, design and art, the aesthetics that prevailed are not surprising. Minimalism, geometry and architectural elements are an inexhaustible inspiration for the brand. By focusing on a simplified form but without sacrificing comfort, easy integration of jewelry into any way of dressing or occasion is achieved. The challenge of how to turn the simplest geometric shape such as a square or circle into effective jewelry has resulted in the recognizable, refined style of the first GEOMETRIA collection. In October 2019, they launched an addition to the collection that includes gold plated pieces. “We spontaneously transferred the basic geometrical elements into structural handcrafted jewelry pieces with a focus on clean technical detailing. These are simple shapes, unburdened by any decorative details that are effective because of that unexpected look when it comes to jewelry.”

All jewelry is manufactured in family-owned workshop in Serbia, combining traditional, sustainable methods and contemporary design. Production process starts with used silver or gold repurposing and refining. Closely following the material from this initial stage contributes to the quality of the final jewelry piece. Unconventional production process of silver sheets is another key attribute of Monoi jewelry. Developed in house by team of engineers it specifically matches the required material structure necessary for the Monoi design language.

“The current collection only contains rings as this was the biggest design challenge for us, but we will be expanding the product range. The concept of Monoi bespoke jewelry is a small, handmade series and does not include seasonal collections. We are excited to finalize new collection campaign, which we will launch soon.”
