THE CHALLENGE: Create a work of art (creative object, construction, experiment, presentation or other concept) using ONLY the materials provided in a Mystery Build Kit.
THE TWIST: You don’t know what’s inside!

OVERVIEW:
Mystery Build is offering $15,000 in cash awards to participants who can create something amazing using only the materials in a Mystery Build Kit, without knowing what they will have to work with. You can expect to find some common sculpting materials like wood, clay, metal, fiber, and a few surprises. The kits are 12″ x 9″ x 3″ and contain 5 lbs. of materials. All 2013 Mystery Build Kits contain the same materials. You can enter individually or as a team, and you can enter as many times as you want.

TO ENTER:
– Purchase a Mystery Build Kit (www.mysterybuild.com) and we will ship it to you.
– Create something amazing.
– Complete a submission form including a written description of your techniques.
– Upload photos and/or videos of your creation to our website, as well as photos or video of the work in progress.

THE THEME:
“Re-Invent a Work of Art”
You may interpret the contest’s theme any way you wish. Perhaps a re-creation of a famous painting in the form of a sculpture, or a new perspective or hidden angle on a familiar work of art. You will specify what work of art you are re-inventing on the submission form. Any work of art can be used, in any medium from painting, to film, music, architecture, photography, sculpture, culinary arts etc. The entry should not be a replica of the work but a re-interpretation, continuation, or unique version of the original artwork.

JUDGING AND VOTING:
The winners are selected by an independent panel of judges. The People’s Choice Award goes to the entry with the most votes during the Public Voting period. Entries are judged on creative use of materials, craftsmanship, use of the theme, and presentation.
