Njustudio

Njustudio from Coburg, Bavaria develops unique and human-friendly objects for residential and commercial use, following the claim “New needs – Nju products / Ideas for the New Normal!”. At home or in the office, Njustudio products provide a human-friendly piece of comfort for everyday life situations. Thereby, our ideas are food for thought, often cannot be assigned to a clear category – and aimed to be used individually. We are three designers, Wolfgang, Kathrin and Nina, we got to know each other during our studies and enjoyed working together since the beginning of our friendship. We founded Njustudio ten years ago – and started our own collection with the Hockenheimer, which we developed as a statement and then sold surprisingly well!

The reason we as designers choose not only design for large companies, lies within the fact that we prefer to bring our own ideas to life, which we discuss not in business briefings, but rather over freshly-cooked lunches. When we eat together, we are able to laugh and discuss ideas, as well as deliberate current topics, headlines, findings, scandals… everything that is a part of our day-to-day life. Due to this practice, many questions and key findings regarding our daily lives have risen (and will rise for the future!). It is from these ideas which we develop our products, our materialized thoughts, which serve more than just bare functions: they allow one to contemplate on questions regarding our post-modern lifestyles.

We at Njustudio often invite friends, relatives, or colleagues to take part in our informal discussions. Our lunch successes can be owed to all the delicious food. After we decide upon a thought, we begin the form-finding process. This results in the first sample, the first prototype. The furniture and objects in our shop are planned and readied with the close cooperation of craftsmen from Coburg and it’s surroundings. With this regional partnership, our esteemed European materials remain authentic and highly-valued. A responsible, regional and as-simple-as- possible production is our pleasure! All in all, it takes a while for ideas to develop into products; but meals must be eaten every day. If you’re close by, think of us and invite yourself over! The future remains normal.

Friendly Border
The idea to Friendly Border appears in a discussion about privacy. We talked about why our need to have time and space for ourselves is important and also completely normal. We found that it usually feels strange when you isolate yourself. The excluded persons might feel like troublemakers. So, why not keeping it fun and friendly?! Why not design it so that it can be easily switched on and off again? – Keeping it soft and light without building walls! Our approach was to find something that is slightly transparent and that appears really friendly and fun. The application should not be defined too precisely but also allow individual use. And: Usage should be really satisfying! – Friendly Border was born!

Where Friendly Border unfolds, room will be defined and atmosphere will be changed. It creates space without building walls and can easily be added or removed in just no time! Office, home or homeoffice become a stage for the pleated eye-catcher. The slightly translucent pleated fabric is an enclosure without exclusion. It creates space without building walls. Pleasantly designed rooms boost creativity and productivity, Friendly Border gives you the opportunity to create small retreats even in big offices. Small room – big room – it is now only a matter of seconds.

It turned out that privacy not only serves our personal well-being, since Corona the much more important benefit is safety. Now a really relevant topic: Friendly Borders separate workspaces, and may help finding our #newnormal in the current crisis situation. We sell Friendly Borders in two different sizes – with a span of 90 cm (M) or 120cm (L)! For the base, every color is possible, we have 4 variations available in our Shop (Mint, Grey, Grey-Neon, Multicolor).
