Novium
Where Engineering Meets Inspiration

Founded on the belief that challenge is the starting point of innovation, Novium creates objects that question how everyday tools should look, feel, and behave.

The company’s name combines the word “novel” with the metallic suffix “ium”, reflecting its ambition to introduce something new into daily life through thoughtful design and original thinking. This approach first gained international attention through a series of highly successful Kickstarter campaigns, where thousands of backers supported the company’s vision of transforming ordinary desk tools into extraordinary experiences.

Among its most recognized creations is the Hoverpen, a magnetic levitation pen that appears to defy gravity as it balances and rotates on its pedestal. Part writing instrument, part kinetic sculpture, the Hoverpen transformed a familiar object into a centerpiece, attracting a global community of designers, creators, and curious minds.

The concept evolved further with the Hoverpen Interstellar, a magnetic pen inspired by astronomy and space exploration. Suspended at 23.5 degrees, the same tilt as the Earth’s rotational axis, the pen combines kinetic movement with precision engineering. The design has earned international recognition, being selected as one of TIME’s Best Inventions 2022, and winning an A’ Design Award and a MUSE Design Award for its innovative combination of functionality, motion, and visual presence.

Continuing this exploration, Novium introduced the Hoverpen Future. Designed to honor the heritage of fine writing while embracing modern innovation, it combines a traditional fountain pen experience with novium’s signature magnetic levitation. The Hoverpen Future is available as a fountain pen, a rollerball pen, or a 2-in-1 version.

Today, Novium continues to develop writing instruments and desk accessories for people drawn to curiosity, creativity, and unconventional ideas. Each creation reflects the company’s enduring belief that the most interesting objects emerge when established norms are challenged.
