The first sustainable eyewear made from coffee
Ochis is a Ukrainian eyewear brand which creates handcrafted products made by natural materials for comfortable daily wear. Driven by the desire to change, Ochis wants to show that eyewear can be eco-friendly, convenient and affordable.
Ochis first started in 1997 as one of the first eyewear repair workshop in Ukraine. Naturally, after two decades of installing and taking out lenses, setting up nose bridges, adjusting temples and working with various materials, Ochis finally wanted to put all that experience to work.
It started creating products which had to be comfortable, sustainable and universal in design.
After repairing and studying different frames, Ochis realized it was time to create something unique and convenient. It started creating biodegradable eyewear that serves its purpose – to protect the eyes and correct the vision in the most comfortable way. Ochis believes that glasses should make people happy without sacrificing quality. That’s why it always strives to improve its products by bringing sustainable solutions to optics.
Thanks to active and conscious people, Ochis now has many cool innovations that allow us all to change for the better. Created in Kyiv, Ukraine, the frames combine a 15-year-long experience in optics with unique technology. Ochis started experimenting with coffee grounds in 2018. It took more than 1000 pressed coffee plates to perfect the qualities of the material in terms of durability, weight, texture and functionality. Ochis formula is completely natural and it’s composed by mixing used coffee grounds with plant-based oils to give the frames a smooth texture and a slight coffee aroma. The innovative material has taken years of experimenting to perfect. Now all Ochis are so light that they feel almost unnoticeable on our face.
