ITSLIQUID Group welcomes the successful launch of the 9th edition of BARCELONA CONTEMPORARY 2026, hosted at ITSLIQUID Art Space – Barcelona. Featuring dynamic works across painting, photography, and video, the show highlights 23 international artists from 15 nations, each offering a distinct perspective on the exhibition’s central themes. BARCELONA CONTEMPORARY ART FAIR 2026 develops as an immersive journey into the dynamic dialogue between the human body and the urban landscape, uncovering how our identities are reshaped by the environments we inhabit. Through its two curated sections, MIXING IDENTITIES and FUTURE LANDSCAPES, the exhibition invites artists to share their unique visions of transformation and coexistence in the contemporary world.

MIXING IDENTITIES analyses the hidden parts of our identities, exploring the human body as a changing system that connects us with other bodies and spaces through a strong communication system of infinite expression.
FUTURE LANDSCAPES is abstract, infinite and conceptual, associated with a sense of freedom and extension, where spaces redefine their limits, transforming surfaces into an open flow of pure ideas.

Within this framework, a sensitive and introspective narrative emerges in Mylène Gau‘s painting practice, where gesture and colour become a language for what remains otherwise unspoken. Her works translate the fragility of identity into tactile, emotionally charged surfaces, offering an intimate threshold where inner states are made visible. This introspective register finds a documentary counterpoint in Rebecca Mason‘s photography, which turns its lens toward the human presence within built environments. Her images capture fleeting moments where body and architecture negotiate space, scale, and belonging, functioning as quiet testimonies to how urban structures silently shape the way we move, pause, and perceive ourselves.

A more expressive and physical dimension is introduced by Gabriel Ceslov, whose painting engages the canvas as a site of tension and release. Form dissolves and reconstitutes itself across his surfaces, echoing the instability of contemporary identity when confronted with the pressures of the surrounding world. In dialogue with this, Irina Asaeva‘s paintings pursue a more lyrical and layered exploration of memory and interiority. Colour becomes a vessel for emotional archaeology, unearthing fragments of the self suspended between past and present, familiarity and estrangement.

Morten Saether‘s painting practice translates landscape and atmosphere into fields of abstraction where body and environment appear to merge into a single continuous surface, suggesting a porous boundary between the self and its surroundings and inviting the viewer to consider the urban and natural landscape not as backdrop, but as an active participant in the shaping of consciousness. Finally, Arefeh Ahmadi‘s video art brings a distinctly contemporary sensibility to this speculative terrain, dissolving the boundaries between digital imagery and lived experience. Her moving-image work constructs immersive, dreamlike environments in which time, motion, and perception fold into one another, proposing the screen as a threshold space where identity is continuously renegotiated between the virtual and the real.

In conclusion, BARCELONA CONTEMPORARY 2026 proposes a fluid vision of identity and environment, where body, mind and space converge into a continuous process of transformation, offering new perspectives on how we inhabit and interpret the contemporary world.
