EXHIBITION REVIEW
BODYSPACES – CANVAS INTERNATIONAL ART FAIR 2025
September 05 – 18, 2025
ELEMENTS Contemporary Art Space, London

ITSLIQUID Group, in collaboration with YMX Arts, is proud to announce the great success of BODYSPACES, the first appointment of CANVAS INTERNATIONAL ART FAIR 2025, on view until September 18 in London. The exhibition reimagines the body as a dynamic field of experimentation – a living archive where personal, social, and virtual dimensions converge, shaping new identities for an interconnected multicultural society.

BODYSPACES is about the perception of our body, the first step for the appropriation of our identity. The bodies are the spaces for human experimentation, for the achievement of humanity and its overtaking. The contemporary body is composed of corporal and virtual elements influenced by physical and psychological actions. The artistic work on the body’s hybridisation will create a new concept of humanity, encompassing any possible life in a contemporary, multicultural society.

We invited artists to express, through their artistic research, the relationship between the body and human life, celebrating the new identities in contemporary times.

The exhibition brings together diverse voices that reinterpret the body and space as vessels of memory, transformation, and identity. Kirana Haag approaches painting as a deeply therapeutic process, a way of communicating what lies beyond words. Her canvases embody the search for connection, translating personal journeys and landscapes into gestures of tenderness and belonging.

In a similar exploration of the body as a shifting and dynamic territory, Silvia Corti’s “Intersections I” reflects on the interplay between internal identity and external forces. Corti captures fleeting sensations and the tension between what is known and what remains to be discovered. Through processes of aggregation and disaggregation, she reveals how spaces and perspectives are constantly reshaped, echoing the fluid nature of human experience.

A similar engagement with authenticity and perception can be seen in Christopher B. Fowler’s photography, where the body and the surrounding environment are observed with unflinching honesty. Fowler’s images, free from digital manipulation, capture the raw presence of the world as it unfolds through the lens. Drawing on lines, planes, and textures, he transforms familiar landscapes into contemplative spaces, allowing viewers to engage with the profound simplicity of form and sensation. His work mirrors identity itself: unembellished, yet layered with depth, radiance, and meaning, emphasising perception as a mode of connection between self and world.

The transcendental dimension of identity is further explored in Oad Siebensee’s multidisciplinary practice, where the body becomes a portal to higher understanding. Spanning painting, sculpture, and sound, Siebensee creates immersive environments that encourage reflection on the purity of the self and its link to universal consciousness. Through meticulous attention to form and essence, he presents identity not merely as corporeal but as a manifestation of a deeper, crystalline being. In this way, the body functions as a conduit for exploration, bridging spiritual and material realities and transforming human presence into a contemplative journey toward universality.

Aurora Rose De Crosta continues this conversation by positioning the body as both subject and stage for cinematic and surreal exploration. Her vibrant color compositions create dreamlike atmospheres where reality and imagination converge. Across fashion photography, self-portraiture, and conceptual work, De Crosta explores empowered femininity, personal introspection, and the interplay between past and present aesthetics.

This performative dimension finds a powerful expression in Stephanie Steme’s “Lotus”, where contemporary and postmodern movement is intertwined with spoken word. The body becomes both narrative vessel and medium of transformation, conveying themes of betrayal, self-acceptance, and resilience. Each iteration of the performance demonstrates the body’s capacity to hold and communicate intimate, raw experiences while negotiating identity and emotional growth. Movement and storytelling merge seamlessly, emphasising the fluid interplay between inner reflection and outward expression, and inviting the audience to witness the body as a site of rebirth, vulnerability, and strength.
