EXHIBITION REVIEW
CONTEMPORARY VENICE – 18th EDITION 2026
March 06 – 20, 2026
Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello, Venice

ITSLIQUID Group, in collaboration with ACIT Venice – Italian-German Cultural Association, proudly announces the great success of CONTEMPORARY VENICE 2026 – 18th edition held at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello in Venice, opened on March 06, 2026 and running until March 20, 2026.

CONTEMPORARY VENICE explores the evolving relationship between the body and the spaces we inhabit, reflecting on how identities are shaped, transformed, and hybridised within today’s cultural, physical, social, and urban environments. The exhibition unfolds through two curated sections: MIXING IDENTITIES and FUTURE LANDSCAPES. Across a diverse range of practices, the participating artists engage with movement, perception, and spatial experience, using immersive, performative, and visual strategies to question, expand, and reimagine how we inhabit and understand both our bodies and the environments around us.

Expanding the boundaries of contemporary media, Patrizia Maimone orchestrates a sophisticated dialogue between photography, textured painting, and sculptural elements. Her practice revolves around the physical transformation of the image, evolving two-dimensional snapshots into complex, three-dimensional compositions that redefine the tactile nature of visual art. Her raised surfaces lend depth and tactility, inviting viewers to engage with the work both visually and physically: through this approach, Maimone investigates the interplay between reality and illusion, often employing symbolic motifs that carry layered meanings of perception, hidden messages, and personal boundaries.

Building on this inquiry into space and structure, Aycenovic, an Istanbul-based architect and artist, merges her architectural training with calligraphic expression, transforming paper and pen into tools of meditative visual poetry. Her repeated forms and precise compositions act as both aesthetic objects and philosophical devices, creating boundaries against modern chaos while inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and discover serenity.

The exhibition then moves outward into the urban sphere with Carine Hayoz, whose abstracted brushwork and multilevel color planes transform the city itself into a living canvas: buildings become nested, transparent structures populated by human figures moving through moments of encounter, intimacy, and joy. Hayoz’s work amplifies the exploration of space, this time focusing on collective environments and social narratives, bridging the interior, meditative spaces of Aycenovic with the external, bustling rhythms of metropolitan life.

In a parallel investigation of human perception and symbolic identity, Ivan Erastov employs naïve figuration and surreal symbolism to create figures that are simultaneously theatrical and introspective. Emerging appendages, hands, and abstract forms serve as metaphors for invisible forces shaping consciousness and emotion, while shifting the focus from external environments to the internal, psychological stage.

Antonio Basavilbaso continues this exploration of human experience, but through the intensity of color and figurative expression. Drawing from painting, screen printing, photography, and audiovisual production, his dynamic compositions generate immersive emotional atmospheres where figures inhabit spaces charged with narrative tension. His work bridges Erastov’s symbolic introspection, showing how human emotion and movement animate both imagined and real environments.

Shifting from painterly representation to documentary observation, Nikolay Semenov captures human presence through photography, revealing nuanced relationships between individuals and the spaces they occupy. His compositions, shaped by light, shadow, and structural elements, preserve the authenticity of fleeting moments, connecting their inner emotive resonance with the lived reality of urban and social space.

Finally, Tkn Pnda bridges physical and digital, past and present, with the Art Angels series, where archetypal figures merge ritual, consciousness, and contemporary abstraction in layered compositions of black, white, and gold. The series synthesizes the tactile, spatial, urban, symbolic, and observational threads of the exhibition into works that exist simultaneously in tangible and virtual forms, guiding the viewer through transitions of perception, ritual, and aesthetic awakening.
