ITSLIQUID Group, in collaboration with ACIT Venice – Italian-German Cultural Association, is pleased to announce the great success of the 17th edition of CONTEMPORARY VENICE 2025, an international exhibition of photography, painting, video art, installation/sculpture and performance art, held in Venice at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello. The Art Fair opened its doors on October 24 and will run until November 07, 2025.

In its 17th edition, CONTEMPORARY VENICE focused on the connection between the body and its surroundings, reflecting on the merging of identities and contemporary cultural, physical, social, and urban landscapes through its two curated sections: MIXING IDENTITIES and FUTURE LANDSCAPES.

MIXING IDENTITIES analyzes the hidden parts of our identities through an immersive experience inside the fascinating universe of the complex labyrinths of our consciousness. The human body is a changing system that connects us with other bodies and spaces to perceive the surrounding reality; a strong communication system with its language and infinite ways of expression.

FUTURE LANDSCAPES are abstract, infinite and conceptual, associated with a sense of freedom and infinite extension. Primarily experienced with the mind, spaces redefine their limits and borders, transforming surfaces into an open flow of pure ideas. This section focuses on the concept of the borders and the structures between body, mind and soul, the human identity and the city, the space and the ground.

The exhibition opened his doors with the live performance of Tamlyn Jemma Preston, whose practice moves fluidly between dance, visual art, and emotional expression. In “Blurred Thoughts”, movement becomes language: a meditation on the fleeting nature of thought as it drifts, dissolves, and transforms through gestures, where each gesture becomes a trace of transition, linking one instant to the next and revealing the fragile beauty of being human. This exploration of transformation continues in the paintings of Jorge A. Yances, whose works dwell in the liminal space between reality and imagination: rooted in the tradition of Magic Realism, his canvases transform the ordinary into visions where memory, shadow, and fantasy intertwine. Through the play of light and darkness, Yances unveils hidden presences within familiar forms, turning silhouettes into stories and inviting viewers to cross the boundaries of perception to rediscover wonder in what lies unseen.

In resonance with this dialogue between illusion and awareness, Benoît Leroux fuses philosophy, science, and figurative art to explore the shifting landscape between perception and consciousness. Painting in oil and pastel, he captures the vibrations of light and emotion suspended between dream and reality in a creative process that akin to a meditative trance, aligning composition and color to reveal meaning beyond form. Infused with mythological and symbolic echoes, Leroux’s works become portals through which the invisible becomes perceptible, a gentle reminder of the unseen threads that connect all human experience.

Federico Verdiani expands this vision through his expressive abstraction. Rooted in Abstract Expressionism and Action Painting, his work embodies the physical and emotional act of creation: color, texture, and movement collide in an energetic dialogue of contrasts – light against shadow, gesture against geometry. Verdiani’s art challenges conventional beauty, offering instead a liberated, vital space where emotion and instinct converge, inviting observers to experience painting not as an image, but as an encounter: a journey toward openness, transformation, and renewal.

The exhibition’s exploration of inner landscapes and shifting identities finds further depth in Susana Mazzarino’s luminous vision through works that pursue light as the essence of consciousness, evolving from traditional painting to digital and contemplative creation. Integrating technology, philosophy, and meditative practice, Mazzarino transforms art into a healing field of awareness – ethereal digital compositions that invite viewers into states of expanded perception, where light itself becomes a universal language of unity and transformation. Similarly, Itse Ochka’s multidisciplinary approach bridges art, philosophy, and consciousness studies; through her “Quantum Soma Architecture”, she translates the principles of balance and energy into abstract and mixed-media forms that reflect the fluid relationship between time, space, and being. Her works are visual meditations inviting viewers to rediscover harmony within movement and stillness alike.

The journey of Contemporary Venice is further enriched by the delicate yet powerful sculptures of Gundi Dietz, whose porcelain figures embody the duality of fragility and resilience: each silent presence evokes a timeless sense of introspection and strength. In her mastery of this demanding medium, Dietz transforms porcelain into a vessel of empathy and reflection- an intimate landscape of the human soul – where figures stand as quiet witnesses to the exhibition’s core themes: identity as transformation, and beauty as the light that endures through change.

OUR LOCATION

Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello is one of the most well-known palaces of the Renaissance in Venice. It is a historical building dating back to the 16th century, and it has been owned by several noble Venetian families, as demonstrated by the frescoed ceilings, the artistic stuccos and the fine furniture that enriches its rooms. The Palace welcomes visitors with its beautiful private garden on the ground floor, and then it gathers the guests in its large first-floor salons, in which past and present dialogue together. The restored Old Masters’ frescoes and the contemporary art masterpieces that are periodically shown in the exhibitions hosted here make Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello the perfect location for the balance between old and new, between ancient environment and contemporary art, architecture and design.

Today, the building is managed by ACIT Venice – the Italian-German Cultural Association – which is considered one of the most important intercultural associations in Europe. Thanks to the ACIT’s unceasing cultural activity, Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello nowadays has frequent collaborations with the Goethe Institute and with other local and international institutions, maintaining its ancient reputation. Because of these relations, it presents a huge program of memorable art exhibitions, conferences, congresses and concerts. Among the last institutional exhibitions, is its participation in the 58th Venice Biennale with the Guatemala pavilion, the Dominican Republic pavilion and the Grenada pavilion. ITSLIQUID Group already had the pleasure to hold some festivals and exhibitions in Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello, such as MORPHOS Festival and FUTURE IDENTITIES Festival, both in 2014.
