ITSLIQUID Group, in collaboration with ACIT Venice – Italian-German Cultural Association, is pleased to announce the great success of FUTURE LANDSCAPES, the third appointment of BORDERS ART FAIR 2025. The exhibition opened its doors on July 25 and will run until August 07, during the same period as the 19th Venice Biennale of Architecture.

FUTURE LANDSCAPES brings together a diverse group of international artists whose works engage with the ever-changing boundaries of personal, emotional, and natural landscapes. The exhibition delves into the transformative power of art, exploring how these evolving landscapes shape our understanding of self, place, and the broader world around us.

At the core of this exhibition is Christopher B Fowler‘s solo exhibition curated by Luca Curci, whose minimalist approach to photography seeks to uncover the unspoken truths and radiant beauty that lie beneath the surface of the visible world. Fowler’s work is a disciplined pursuit of authenticity, captured through wide-angle perspectives and simple techniques that exclude any digital manipulation beyond basic cropping and leveling. Using a single zoom lens, Fowler captures the full dimensionality of each scene, offering viewers an unfiltered, deeply resonant connection to the essence of his subjects. His images invite us to pause and reflect on the raw, unadorned beauty of the world, emphasizing how art, in its purest form, can illuminate the hidden radiance that exists within every moment.

In a similar exploration of truth and energy, Mira Vujanic channels her intuitive creativity through spontaneous and emotional brushstrokes. Vujanic’s work is less about technical mastery and more about an organic connection to a collective consciousness, one that flows freely through her paintings. Her vibrant abstract compositions reflect moments of clarity and authenticity, capturing emotional flashes that are often overlooked. Like Fowler, Vujanic’s art transcends the conventional; it is not about making space in the world but about fully embracing and living within it, offering viewers an intimate glimpse into her world of raw emotional expression.

Véronique George further delves into the theme of personal transformation with her “Waves” series, which explores the profound emotional journey of grief, healing, and the ebb and flow of the human spirit. Through her fluid depiction of shifting waves, George captures the tension between turmoil and serenity, illustrating how emotions can both overwhelm and ultimately bring peace. The waves in her work symbolize the universal process of navigating personal upheavals and the eventual return to calm. This progression resonates deeply with the themes of emotional growth and renewal, echoing the broader transformative power of art as it reshapes both our inner and outer landscapes.

The exploration of memory and its impact on our emotional landscapes is also deeply present in Ilir Lluka‘s audiovisual work, “Réflexions”. Lluka uses sound and custom software to create immersive, dreamlike environments that explore how moments in time linger, reshaping our identities. His use of field recordings, electronic sounds, and acoustic instrumentation weaves a rich tapestry that invites the viewer to step into an evolving mental landscape. Just as George’s waves reflect the emotional ebb and flow of healing, Lluka’s piece challenges us to reconsider the fluidity of time and memory, urging us to reflect on how both our personal pasts and the present continuously reshape our sense of self.

In contrast to the fluidity of these works, Marie Puybaraud offers a grounded, physical presence through her clay sculptures. Inspired by figures of prayer and meditation, Puybaraud’s works transcend materiality to evoke a deeper spiritual connection. Her figures, crafted from black clay and finished with rich patinas, convey a sense of stillness and inner peace. Each sculpture, with its outstretched arms and serene posture, acts as a symbol of contemplation, offering a moment of quiet reflection. These works echo the introspective nature of Vujanic’s and Fowler’s art, yet through the tactile medium of clay, Puyabaraud brings a grounded stillness that contrasts with the vibrant fluidity seen in many of the other works.

Bela Gutman complements Puyabaraud’s grounded sculptures with his emotive explorations of the human form. Through charcoal and pastel, Gutman captures the weight, balance, and tension of the body in space, emphasizing the emotional and physical contradictions that lie within every form. His work invites viewers to explore the complexities of human presence and engage with the layered textures that bring these figures to life. The sense of balance and tension in Gutman’s pieces resonates with the internal landscapes explored by both Vujanic and George, where emotional weight and personal transformation are equally central.

Finally, Carrie Martin infuses the exhibition with vivid, electrifying landscapes that transform everyday moments into powerful emotional statements. Martin’s use of neon-like colors breathes life into scenes that might otherwise be overlooked, capturing the transient beauty of the world around us. Her work, much like that of Vujanic and George, reflects the fleeting nature of time and the emotions that flash through us in an instant. Martin’s landscapes pulse with energy, offering a dynamic counterpoint to the more contemplative works in the exhibition and urging viewers to appreciate the ephemeral beauty of the world.

Together, these artists create a multifaceted conversation around the theme of transformation, exploring how both internal and external landscapes shape our understanding of the world and ourselves. Through a variety of media – from photography to sculpture, painting to audiovisual art – FUTURE LANDSCAPES provides a rich tapestry of emotional, physical, and psychological landscapes that challenge us to reflect on the world around us and the boundaries we continuously redefine.

OUR LOCATION

Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello is one of the most well-known palaces of the Renaissance in Venice. It is a historical building dating back to the 16th century, and it has been owned by several noble Venetian families, as demonstrated by the frescoed ceilings, the artistic stuccos and the fine furniture that enriches its rooms. The Palace welcomes visitors with its beautiful private garden on the ground floor, and then it gathers the guests in its large first-floor salons, in which past and present dialogue together. The restored Old Masters’ frescoes and the contemporary art masterpieces that are periodically shown in the exhibitions hosted here make Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello the perfect location for the balance between old and new, between ancient environment and contemporary art, architecture and design.

Today, the building is managed by ACIT Venice – the Italian-German Cultural Association – which is considered one of the most important intercultural associations in Europe. Thanks to the ACIT’s unceasing cultural activity, Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello nowadays has frequent collaborations with the Goethe Institute and with other local and international institutions, maintaining its ancient reputation. Because of these relations, it presents a huge program of memorable art exhibitions, conferences, congresses and concerts. Among the last institutional exhibitions, is its participation in the 58th Venice Biennale with the Guatemala pavilion, the Dominican Republic pavilion and the Grenada pavilion. ITSLIQUID Group already had the pleasure to hold some festivals and exhibitions in Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello, such as MORPHOS Festival and FUTURE IDENTITIES Festival, both in 2014.
