The festival focuses on the concept of “borders”, between the soul and the body, the human being and the urban space, the city and the ground. The festival analyzes the idea of human and urban borders, how people live them and how they are modified in contemporary society. Every human being lives in a world in which the limits and the borders shape their attitudes and behaviours, limiting freedom and creating a sense of alienation. The human being reacts by breaking the limits and finding a new way of life. We imagine a world of “liquid cities”, where differences create new possibilities instead of being social barriers.

FUTURE LANDSCAPES analyzes how human creativity and imagination can shape our landscapes. Cities are leading to a new aesthetic change that aims to rebalance the combination of humans and nature to restore natural systems and ecological integrity and deliver beautiful, engaging and remarkable landscape experiences. Today we face many challenges that require a big effort in mixing new frontiers to create new extraordinary places and spaces. We aim to generate future landscapes without mental and physical borders, in which the human being is completely free.

On 20 July at Palazzo Pisani-Revedin, we had the pleasure of exhibiting some projects that highlight the exploration of Artificial Intelligence in the world of architecture and design. This is the case of the Indian architect Neeraj Mahajan, who presented “Fabrica Tower”, created through the use of Midjourney, which features a unique fabric exterior façade that not only enhances the aesthetics of the building but also has a practical function. The lightweight and flexible fabric panels have been carefully selected to provide optimal solar shading, reducing heat gain and glare, while allowing natural light to filter through and creating a comfortable working environment.

The exploration of architecture and AI in urban environments is the basis of Marco A. Alfaro‘s research: the Mexican architect and urban designer creates symbiotic relationships between the elements involved in a project. Mohamad AbdAllah, from Lebanon, is a lead creative design architect based in Dubai, whose experience with techniques such as virtual and augmented reality helped him identify potential problems early in the design process. We also had the pleasure of exhibiting one of the forward‐thinking design architect Alya Rahmoun‘s projects, from Turkey. Alya has been exploring and integrating AI in architecture since the beginning of the deployment of image generation models in June 2022. It develops its own approach and vision of the architectural future, as well as seeks to use AI to generate efficient, liveable and sustainable post-crisis housing architecture.

On this occasion, we had the pleasure to present the solo exhibition of the visionary Swiss artist Fant Wenger, FREQUENCY, whose works explore the hidden dimensions that shape our world and invite viewers to question their perception of reality.

During the opening event at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello on July 21, we had the pleasure of welcoming numerous visitors and artists. Mónica Pla‘s breathtaking performance stunned the audience: in “Dona” the Spanish performer staged a silent poem, an intimate search of illusions, giving a surprising effect to the spectators, who are free to convey in the gestures of the performer the message that best suits their most intimate life experiences.

The concept of the art fair was pleasantly enhanced by the German-based artist Anna Nesterenko, whose art delves into the eternal allure and captivating charm of every woman, celebrating both her inner and outer beauty. The artist has the ability to capture the essence of unconditional love, a powerful force that has the power to transform us into radiant, irresistible and undeniably confident individuals. Anna Nesterenko enlightens us on the fact that true beauty blossoms when we embrace our authenticity with all our hearts.

The exploration and the manipulation of the line as a mark on canvas is the aim of the visual research of the Irish artist Emma Carter. Different size brushes and angles at which she applies the paint help her to achieve an illusion in her work that would almost invite you to look closer to make sense of where each mark and line connects. Emma works quickly and everything is captured in a spontaneous dance of paint portraying an infinite end to the knots and lines seen in her work. Her work makes the viewer question the relationship between a structured entity and a realization of a new world. The charm of the colours and their expressiveness have contributed to developing the artistic curiosity of Manuela Eibensteiner. Her art is based on plays of colour and light combined with the technique of enamel, which evolves into an impressionistic representation and is sometimes fantastic.

As stated by the Bulgarian artist Elena Georgieva, “The world is fluid, overflowing with its past and future. Things happen now, in the present moment, and it’s nice to grab them as they are shaped by the moment, not as pre-planned or fantasies. Through her ceramic and marble installations, Elena Georgieva invites us to undress our dreams, conveying the message that a given moment is forever, everything is contemporary, and everything is unique.

In the realm of sculpture, a mention of merit goes to Andrea Jiménez Carrasquillo, from Puerto Rico, whose work stems from the reaffirmation of her Caribbean identity and spirituality. Through her art, Andrea deals with our collective subconscious and what moves us from within. Andrea’s mission is to investigate how anatomy can be shaped by a cultural experience and to propose a perspective of Caribbean culture by showcasing sculptural figures that render narratives of resilience, empowerment and transgenerational healing.

Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello welcomed a great number of artists who created new hybrid spaces that challenge their own identity to discover new facets of the traditional notions of self and identity. At this stage is placed the work of Yaiza Ares, the Spanish architect and set designer, who presented the prototype of a travelling circus, a textile architecture that is mostly suspended in the air through a balance of tensions. The prototype was born out of a desire to create an analogy with the world of the circus and design a structure that serves this art, generating the same sense of harmony and impossibility found in circus disciplines.

The art of the Iranian artist Maryam Zomorodian, based in Germany, focuses on criticism and self-interpretation. Maryam’s work deepens human existence, involving paradoxical concepts and ideas. Some are deeply personal and contain ambiguous elements: partially or totally obscured faces, dark objects, avoided postures, and parts of landscapes that do not convey a reassuring sense of what is at stake. According to the Croatian artist Krunoslav Bedi, self-discovery is the pinnacle of artistic expression: the goal of his artistic practice is to show the world the unconscious beauty and the joy it evokes. Krunoslav’s deep connection with the world of information technology gave life to artworks that take shape.

OUR LOCATION

Palazzoalbrizzicapello 001 1

Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello is one of the most known palaces of the Renaissance in Venice. It is a historical building dating back to the 16th century, and it has been owned by several noble Venetian families, as demonstrated by the frescoed ceilings, the artistic stuccos and the fine furniture that enriches its rooms. The Palace welcomes visitors with its beautiful private garden on the ground floor, and then it gathers the guests in its large first-floor salons, in which past and present dialogue together. The restored Old Masters’ frescoes and the contemporary art masterpieces that are periodically shown in the exhibitions hosted here, make Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello the perfect location for the balance between old and new, between ancient environment and contemporary art, architecture and design.

Today the building is managed by ACIT Venice – the Italian-German Cultural Association – which is considered one of the most important intercultural associations in Europe. Thanks to the ACIT unceasing cultural activity, Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello has nowadays frequent collaborations with the Goethe Institute and with other local and international institutions, maintaining its ancient reputation. Because of these relations, it presents a huge program of memorable art exhibitions, conferences, congresses and concerts. Among the last institutional exhibitions, is its participation in the 58th Venice Biennale with the Guatemala pavilion, the Dominican Republic pavilion and the Grenada pavilion. ITSLIQUID Group already had the pleasure to hold some festivals and exhibitions in Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello, such as MORPHOS Festival and FUTURE IDENTITIES Festival, both in 2014.
