The concept of MIXING IDENTITIES analyzed the reconstruction of new identities: their transformation is essential to face the changes of the contemporary world. The event focused on the human body as a changing system that connects us with other bodies and spaces to perceive the surrounding reality, a strong communication system with its own language and infinite ways of expression.
Artists, architects and designers have been invited to be inspired by the magical power of London, exploring the hidden parts of our identities, through an immersive experience inside the fascinating universe of the complex labyrinths of our consciousness.

MIXING IDENTITIES delved into the intricate and multifaceted nature of human identities. The participating artists brought their unique perspectives and artistic expressions to explore the themes of identity transformation, personal growth, and the interplay between individuals and their surroundings. One of them, David Douglas, through his captivating paintings, portrayed levitation as a subject that embodies the transformative nature of identities. His use of various mediums and techniques, coupled with his impressive portraiture skills, captured the essence of his subjects with depth and emotion: by depicting individuals in a state of suspended reality, Douglas highlighted the fluidity of identities, suggesting the potential for personal growth and the ability to rise above societal constraints.

Marina Reutova, a Russian-born artist currently residing in Bali, and her artworks, offered a deep exploration of femininity and spirituality. Incorporating archetypal female figures and spiritual symbolism, Reutova examined the different layers of identity and the transformative journey towards self-discovery. Her art resonated with the exhibition’s focus on the exploration of ourselves through diverse cultural and spiritual influences.
Also, the self-taught artist Ingrid Jinca further contributed to the exhibition’s theme by emphasizing the fluidity and transformation of the human experience. With vibrant colours and dynamic compositions, Jinca’s artworks evoke a sense of constant change and evolution. The abstract nature of her work invited viewers to project their own interpretations onto the canvas, reflecting the individualistic and evolving nature of identities and allowing them to embrace the boundless realm of the imagination.

Dominique Pressinger‘s solo exhibition, titled “Vessels,” provided another perspective on the interplay between identity and the natural world. Pressinger invited viewers to contemplate their own identities in relation to the ever-changing rhythms of the natural world. The solo exhibition represented a unique perspective on the transient beauty found in everyday objects and the transformative power of light, color, and organic forms. Her vessels symbolize the receptacles of life, holding both physical and metaphorical significance: by focusing on these objects, Pressinger invited viewers to contemplate the notion of identity as something that contains and encompasses our experiences, memories, and emotions. Pressinger’s artworks celebrate the often-overlooked objects that populate our daily lives, elevating them to the status of art. By drawing attention to the beauty found in the mundane, she prompted viewers to reconsider their perceptions of identity and to find meaning and significance in the seemingly ordinary aspects of their own lives.
