ROME INTERNATIONAL ART FAIR represented a forum for the direct exchange of ideas and contacts between collectors, artists, photographers, designers and art professionals, and provided a unique opportunity for artists and exhibitors to present their works to an international audience of art professionals seeking to acquire, publish and encourage the best talents in contemporary art. The exhibition analysed the body-space relationship and the hybridization between identities and cultural/physical/social/urban contexts in contemporary times, through two main sections: MIXING IDENTITIES and FUTURE LANDSCAPES.

MIXING IDENTITIES analyzed the hidden parts of our identities and their infinite modes of expression, through an immersive experience in the fascinating universe of the labyrinths of our consciousness. While FUTURE LANDSCAPES focused primarily on the concept of boundaries and structures between body, mind and soul, human identity and the city, space and ground, transforming surfaces into an open flow of pure ideas.

Rome’s artistic and cultural heritage acted as a perfect stage to bring together the vivid dialogue between tradition and personal expression, perfectly encapsulating the theme of MIXING IDENTITIES by demonstrating how artists merge their internal and external worlds to create art that challenges, celebrates, and redefines the understanding of the self in an ever-evolving cultural landscape. In this regard, the art of Joel Mondragón anchors the rigorous discipline of academic drawing with a fervent exploration of traditional and modern painting techniques. His transition from realistic to abstract representations in a variety of mediums, from pencil to oil, highlights the fluid nature of identity as it is shaped by personal experience and artistic innovation. Meanwhile, Valera Crofoot brings a rich tapestry of influences from her early exposures to major art museums and various artists. Her work, primarily in oils, is imbued with emotion and imagination, which she harnesses to achieve a level of technical mastery reminiscent of Western art traditions.

To enrich the open dialogue of the FUTURE LANDSCAPES theme, Rifat Baltaoglu integrates his architectural insight with a passion for sustainability, creating art from recycled materials. His work challenges and redefines the concept of sustainability, aiming to provoke curiosity and discussion among art lovers about the innovative use of materials. Expanding on the theme through the transformation of rigid surfaces and fixed boundaries into a continuous stream of unbounded ideas – Sylvie Di Palma explores a range of artistic techniques, moving from pastel to acrylic and transitioning from figurative to abstract art. Abandoning traditional brushes for diverse materials, her abstract compositions invite sensory exploration, creating paintings that are both visual and tactile experiences, often utilizing mixed techniques to stay true to her artistic impulses.

Taking inspiration from the FUTURE LANDSCAPES that surround us, Julia Szeder featured works in her unique paint knife impasto technique, incorporating recycled postage stamps into her canvases to create ‘impasted stamps’ that blend modern and abstract styles, marked by Mediterranean colors and a harmony that infuses her work with life. Margarida dos Santos with her printmaking pieces tackled contemporary global issues like environmental crises and social tensions, aiming to provoke thought and stir action through themes of nature, spirituality, and the complexities of human societies.

OUR LOCATION

ITSLIQUID Art Space – Rome is a Contemporary Art Space in the city centre of Rome. The Gallery hosts solo and collective shows with a rich variety of contemporary painters, photographers, designers, architects, sculptors, performers and video makers.

ITSLIQUID Art Space – Rome is located in a prestigious historical building, a few minutes walk from the Colosseum and Roman Forum. The exhibition space is on the ground floor, with four main rooms and three bright shop windows on the street. Easily accessible, the space is fully equipped for hosting exhibitions and events.
