VENICE INTERNATIONAL ART FAIR 2023 analyzes the relationship between body and space, and the hybridization between identities and cultural/physical/social/urban contexts in contemporary times, through two main sections: LIQUID ROOMS and FUTURE LANDSCAPES.

LIQUID ROOMS analyzes the hidden parts of our identities, through an immersive experience inside the fascinating universe of the complex labyrinths of our consciousness. The human body is a changing system that connects us with other bodies and spaces to perceive the surrounding reality: a strong communication system with its own language and infinite ways of expression.

FUTURE LANDSCAPES are abstract, infinite and conceptual, associated with a sense of freedom and infinite extension. Primarily experienced with the mind, spaces redefine their limits and borders, transforming surfaces in an open flow of pure ideas. This section focuses on the concept of boundaries and structures between bodymind and soul, human identity and the city, the space and the ground.

The exploration of our self-consciousness has been brilliantly deepened by Alina Pistol, a multifaceted artist whose journey is characterized by a fresh perspective and an original style. In her art, she seeks to transcend the ordinary, delving into the realms of dreams, self-revelations, personal beliefs, and the exploration of the inner child, harmoniously blending introspection and self-searching. Each piece is meticulously framed, representing an intimately personal experience that resonated with the viewer on a profound level. Môme Assano, a painter with a rich and diverse background, achieved national distribution through fashion-focused collaborations, exhibiting his captivating artworks both in Japan and internationally: his narrative unfolds as a fusion of cultural influences, weaving a tapestry of experiences from East to West. His works, symbolized by a single pencil, reflect a commitment to varied genres beyond textile design: each stroke encapsulates a child’s curiosity, inviting viewers to join in the limitless joy of artistic creation.

For Antonina Zazulina, photography is a vast realm of self-development and boundless opportunities: she specialized in portrait and art photography, aiming to encapsulate the inner essence, charisma, and individuality of her subjects. Through her lens, the photographer not only captures moments but unveils the profound narratives and unique qualities that define her items, making each photograph a testament to her unwavering commitment to the art of visual storytelling. Embracing the same medium, Mariana Bontempo, a Brazilian fine art photographer, channels her artistic vision through a lens focused on children’s portraits. In her works the artist harmoniously blends past influences and dreamlike emotions, creating a unique reflection of her own world and human experience, infusing her creations with introspection and grace, and capturing the essence of fleeting moments that invite viewers to the contemplation of dreams.

Focused on a profound analysis of the reconnection between humans and the environment, the painter Deusmou gave his contribution to deep the FUTURE LANDSCAPES theme. Nature, especially trees, has been a constant source of inspiration for the artist, as it served as catharsis: as he collaborates with this majestic element that lives and breathes, his creative process becomes a sort of healing process, fostering a profound sense of unity and connection with the living material. From fashion to capturing the grandeur of icebergs, Patricia Canino showed a reality where every creation originates from the art of photography, exploring lights, shadows, and materials to evoke sensuality. Intrigued by vast expanses of water, snow, ice, and clouds, Canino embarked on an expedition to Greenland to encounter drifting icebergs and, back in her studio, she transformed these images into materials for metamorphosing light. Solarized flashes, deep blacks, and metallic reflections redefine the essence of her subjects, echoing the whispers of the past and future disasters and revealing the serenity of an alternate dimension.

Guy Cleuren‘s photographs challenged the notion of both LIQUID ROOMS and FUTURE LANDSCAPES: his series delved into the nuanced interplay of pragmatism, poetry, discipline, and freedom through an autobiographical collection, a sort of testament to his unique approach. In the artist’s works, he avoids the need for symbolism, allowing the essence of architecture to speak eloquently and transcending rational thinking. His pieces invited viewers to embrace the poetic sensibilities within life and architecture, offering a profound and introspective journey into the realms of self-expression. The German artist Bärbel Schmidtmann delved into diverse expressive languages and meanings: her canvases incorporate reclaimed materials such as wood, paper, natural elements, and antique fabrics, addressing existential themes related to human consciousness, solitude, lightness, and femininity. Her inexhaustible creativity finds expression in the versatility of materials and techniques she employs, serving as a constant source of inspiration for her artistic endeavours.

OUR LOCATION

Palazzoalbrizzicapello 001 1

Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello is one of the most known palaces of the Renaissance in Venice. It is a historical building dating back to the 16th century, and it has been owned by several noble Venetian families, as demonstrated by the frescoed ceilings, the artistic stuccos and the fine furniture that enriches its rooms. The Palace welcomes visitors with its beautiful private garden on the ground floor, and then it gathers the guests in its large first-floor salons, in which past and present dialogue together. The restored Old Masters’ frescoes and the contemporary art masterpieces that are periodically shown in the exhibitions hosted here, make Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello the perfect location for the balance between old and new, between ancient environment and contemporary art, architecture and design.

Today the building is managed by ACIT Venice – the Italian-German Cultural Association – which is considered one of the most important intercultural associations in Europe. Thanks to the ACIT’s unceasing cultural activity, Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello has nowadays frequent collaborations with the Goethe Institute and with other local and international institutions, maintaining its ancient reputation. Because of these relations, it presents a huge program of memorable art exhibitions, conferences, congresses and concerts. Among the last institutional exhibitions, is its participation in the 58th Venice Biennale with the Guatemala pavilion, the Dominican Republic pavilion and the Grenada pavilion. ITSLIQUID Group already had the pleasure of holding some festivals and exhibitions in Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello, such as MORPHOS Festival and FUTURE IDENTITIES Festival, both in 2014.
