SOFIA NOGARD fashion brand

The concept of the brand SOFIA NOGARD is “timeless archaic“. As they are interested in the local (Slovenian) culture and tradition and the associated moods, they reinterpret all of these feelings through clothes and accessories with new materials, shapes, color combinations, patterns and usability in a modern, contemporary way, embedding them in an instant moment of the global world.

The style is a mix of street wear, sportswear and high fashion – “street couture“. Behind the brand there are two fashion designers, MIJA CURK and BOSTJAN MLJAC, both from the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Design of Textiles and Clothing at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia and both with master fashion design degree (Mija at UIAH/Helsinki, Finland and Bostjan at Istituto Marangoni, Milano, Italy).

The inspiration for “SHAPE IN PROGRESS” collection spring/summer 2014 was changes, transformations of the female body through different periods of life. From here the use of lightweight, translucent materials which allows the view on the body underneath, but always in a discreet, gentle, playful way. Also the structure of the clothes, with the cutouts and volumes on strategic points, puts the body underneath on display or emphasize it even more.

The silhouette of the clothes is mostly oversized in the upper part (parkas, jackets, tops, dresses…), and lean on the lower part (pants). The color palette is more subdued this time, with a lot of black and pastel tones (color powder, soft blue, light gray), which are occasionally intersected with strong fluorescent orange tones.
