The Jacques Rougerie Foundation – Institut de France unveils the winners of its 2020 International Architecture and Art Prizes. The Jacques Rougerie Foundation – Institut de France International Architecture Competition supports and accompanies the development of daring and visionary biomimetic architectural projects in the Sea, in Space or meeting the challenge of the Sea level rise.

The Internationl Prizes for Art under the Sea and Art in Space, created in 2020 in partnership with the Académie des beaux-arts, reward artists exploring new forms of expression on a global scale. Each year, the Jacques Rougerie Foundation – Institut de France awards six International Architecture Prizes and two International Art Prizes for a global endowment of € 50,000. Over the past 10 years, the foundation has received nearly 10,000 applications from 150 countries.

Among the award-winners of the 2020 edition, “THE 8TH CONTINENT”. The floating station is cleaning the ocean and restoring the balance in the marine environment. lt connects research and education facility with ocean plastic recycle centre. The Floating Station is with various processes answering the environmental changes on-site. lts elements can co-operate and optimize the energy use ta create a self-sufficient living organism. lt creates the interdisciplinary platform ta fight against the dilution that we cannot hurt the ocean by our action onshore.
