Things Designs
Functional Objects for the Everyday Desk

Things Designs is a small design studio based in Turin, Italy, creating curated home office accessories through a refined combination of digital fabrication and natural materials. The studio brings together backgrounds in engineering and architecture to develop objects that are honest, useful, and quietly beautiful, produced sustainably in small batches through 3D printing, laser cutting and other modern techniques.

The philosophy behind Things Designs is grounded in material honesty: each material should do what it does best. Bioplastics, magnets, and stainless steel are thoughtfully combined with cork, wood and natural wool. The result is a series of designs characterised by modern precision with touches of warmth and tactility, elevating otherwise minimal forms. Rather than hiding how things are made, the studio embraces it. Layer lines, grain, and texture aesthetic language – a balance between engineered geometry and natural imperfection.

Each decision – material, finish, color and tactile experience – is deliberate. Every element contributes to how the object feels, works, and lasts. Things Designs began not as a brand, but as a habit. In 2022, Luis Medina and Uribi Pernalete started designing and 3D printing objects to solve everyday frustrations, then sharing their designs freely online under the name TwoThingies. By 2024, this practice had evolved thanks to the desire to bring to life physical products anchored in clarity, utility, and material expression.

Working from a small space in Turin, Luis launched Things Designs with Uri’s support, and they began producing objects, refining each piece through iteration and hands-on making. Production at Things Designs is intentionally limited. Most pieces are made to order or in small batches. When a process requires equipment beyond what the studio can do in-house, the work goes to trusted local workshops rather than overseas suppliers. The result is a collection of objects that feel crafted rather than manufactured.

Today, the studio develops a focused collection of desktop items designed to quietly improve everyday routines, removing friction and elevating workspaces. Their signature design is Tiles, a series of modular magnetic desk trays that snap together to form a customisable organisation system. Available in both elegant monochrome tones and calmed muted shades, they embody the studio’s philosophy of adaptability, material contrast, and tactile interaction.

A recent special edition also introduced bright, colourful variants for maximalist setups. Across all products, the intention remains consistent: to create objects that are honest in how they are made, purposeful in how they function, and designed to belong naturally in everyday spaces.
