On Tuesday, December 14, at 7:00 PM, in the traditional setting which the Galeria Café Libro offers its guests, a work of art will be raffled off to one of the attendees, and the proceeds will be the first contribution donated to the victims of this winter’s storms.  The base price of each raffle ticket will be 50,000 Colombian Pesos, which can be increased at the discretion of the buyer.

The auction of the art works will take place on February 10, the last day of the exhibition, the same day that Andrea Echeverry and Los Aterciopelados will officially close the sixth Tribute with a concert.

The sixth annual Homenaje Internacional al Agua is an event organized by the Corporación Cultural y Ambiental, Culturagua, with the assistance of the  Galería Café Libro.

BACKGROUND

In 2005, the growing concern over water and the lack of awareness of its use in the town of Villa de Leyva, led to a search for a way to promote community awareness within the town and to foster ways to protect and manage this vital resource.

It was at this moment that the Corperacion Cultural y Ambiental, Culturagua, iniated the first Homenaje al Agua in Villa de Leyva. It ran for five days, and included twenty activities consisting of theatrical and dance presentations, the showing of movies,  and concerts, colloquiums, field trips, conferences, and art exhibits.

This and the four subsequent Tributes witnessed the participation of artists from countries such as Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Colombia, Chile, Spain, the United States, France, Israel, Italy, Pakistan, Peru, and South Africa.  More than 1,150 national and foreign artists have formed part of these Tributes with works in various disciplines (painting, sculpture, ceramics, installation art, photography, performance art, music and poetry)
