Vogue: Inventing the Runway is an exciting new, immersive exhibition that takes the visitor on a vibrant journey through the history of the fashion runway. From the intimate and exclusive couture salons of the early 1900s to the extravagant runway performances of more recent times, this dazzling spectacle brings it all to life for everyone to enjoy.

Visitors will experience what it is like to have a front-row seat and hear the voices of fashion from the past, present, and future. The show’s narration is spoken by two-time Academy Award-winning actor and producer Cate Blanchett.

Inventing the Runway takes its audience on a captivating journey through the world of fashion shows, highlighting how they evolved into powerful platforms for designers to express their creativity and identity. This exciting experience celebrates the imagination, skill, and passion that have shaped the fashion world, season after season. From Patrick Kelly’s groundbreaking designs that brought joy and inclusivity to the runway to the transformative impact of Virgil Abloh and Pharrell at Louis Vuitton, this journey shows how fashion continues to push boundaries and inspire change.

See Alexander McQueen and John Galliano’s groundbreaking work, celebrated for its impact on fashion. McQueen’s bold, dramatic designs transformed the runway into an art form, while Galliano’s theatrical, fantasy-inspired collections at Dior revived haute couture with whimsy and opulence. Visitors see such iconic moments from the fashion runway’s history on a scale never seen before, perhaps not since their original showing. There are over 60 designers included in the show.

At Lightroom, with its four-story walls as a 360-degree canvas, the visitor gets up close and personal with the designers’ amazing visions in exciting new ways, all at a scale never experienced before. Inventing the Runway uses original animation in an experience that is both visceral and insightful, with immersive sound design and an iconic score fusing classical and pop music, all of which will evoke the worlds when iconic shows shifted the cultural landscape. It is an interactive adventure through fashion that’s sure to be unforgettable.
